Sparklers, Satsang, and Smiles – Amma’s Birthday Celebrations at MACMI

The evening of Amma’s birthday celebrations at MACMI began with sparkling joy—literally. Volunteers and guests welcomed Swami Dayamaritananda with sparklers, setting the tone for a night of celebration and devotion.

Swamiji performed the traditional pada puja with offerings of milk, honey, ghee, and flowers, symbolizing love and gratitude for Amma. In his satsang, he highlighted Amma’s unique service to the world—her embodiment of unconditional motherly love. “Only a mother can give hugs and kisses with such boundless compassion,” Swamiji shared, inspiring reflection and reverence. He spoke about Amma’s role in fostering compassion, service, and community, and encouraged everyone to carry those values forward.

The atmosphere soon lifted with lively bhajans, including the special birthday song Innalo Karthika Nalu. Music and rhythm filled the hall, and many joined in singing and dancing, creating a joyful, uplifting spirit.

The evening also honored seva (selfless service). Certificates of appreciation were presented to Tharun Narendran and Saswat Kamath for their contributions to the Guru Purnima Backpack Project, which provided school supplies and encouragement to children in need.

A sweet moment followed as Swami and the children cut a beautifully decorated cake, baked by Ajitha Kymal. The celebration concluded outdoors under the night sky, with families lighting sparklers and flower pot fountains, their glow reflecting the happiness of a community coming together to celebrate Amma's birthday.
