Pick, Picnic, and Give Back: Labor Day Fun at Amrita Farms

The orchard at Amrita Farms came alive this past weekend as families and friends gathered for the Labor Day kickoff of the U-Pick Apple fundraiser. Even though August still lingers, the days carried the first hints of autumn—cool breezes, golden sunlight, and the sweet crunch of freshly picked apples.

A Tradition in the Making
Open every Saturday and Sunday from Labor Day onward, this two-day weekend event has quickly become a beloved community tradition. Hosted by MA Center Michigan and run entirely by volunteers, all net proceeds go to meaningful local service projects.

Fun for the Whole Family
Kids laughed and played in the farm’s treehouse, while parents savored homemade apple crisp and freshly pressed cider. Families gathered in the picnic area to enjoy treats, share stories, and soak in the season.

Something for Everyone
Whether it’s filling a basket with apples, tasting local honey and maple syrup, or simply enjoying time together outdoors, the farm offers something for every visitor. Longtime guests celebrated another season at Amrita Farms, while newcomers experienced a first taste of what promises to become a cherished annual outing.

As one volunteer shared, “Every apple picked helps someone in need. That’s what makes this event so meaningful.”

From baskets overflowing with apples to shared moments of connection, the Labor Day kickoff at Amrita Farms was a celebration of harvest, community, and giving back—a sweet beginning to the season ahead.
