Her inspiration comes from a story often shared by her guru, Mata Amritanandamayi. In it, a person transforms worn clothing into curtains, and eventually into cleaning rags—extending the life of each item through thoughtful reuse. This simple tale left a lasting impression on Dr. Sankaran, shaping her own approach to waste and generosity.

“I like recycling,” she says with a warm smile. “I use old sarees that would otherwise go to landfill.”

With simple tools and a generous heart, Dr. Sankaran transforms once-loved fabrics into sturdy, practical bags. Each one is a small act of care, made from materials donated by friends, temples, or from her own closet. Even leftover office decorations find new purpose under her needle.
