MA Center LA Participated in the 12th International Day of Yoga Celebration @LMU
MA Center LA was honored to participate in the 12th International Day of Yoga celebration hosted by the Consulate General of India at Loyola Marymount University. The event brought together numerous spiritual, cultural, and wellness organizations from across Southern California, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with unity, friendship, inspiration, and a shared commitment to holistic well-being. The day was a beautiful celebration of yoga's universal message of harmony, peace, and connection. Participants of all ages gathered to practice yoga, learn from experienced instructors,
and deepen their understanding of yoga as a way of life.
MA Center LA hosted an Amma information booth throughout the event, where volunteers warmly welcomed visitors and shared information about Amma's humanitarian activities and spiritual teachings. We also distributed flyers for the upcoming visit of Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri, which will take place on July 18–19 at the LAX Marriott Hotel. Many attendees expressed interest in learning more about Amma and the programs offered by MA Center LA. We were especially honored to welcome Consulate General of India, Dr. K.J. Srinivasa, to our booth. His visit provided a wonderful opportunity to share Amma's message of compassion, selfless service, and spiritual growth, and we are grateful for his support of community initiatives that promote wellness, cultural understanding, and harmony.
A special highlight of the event was the yoga demonstration led by instructors from participating organizations. Representing the MA Center LA, Devika gracefully demonstrated yoga postures alongside fellow instructors, showcasing the physical discipline, balance, and mindfulness that yoga cultivates.
The audience was also deeply moved by a heartfelt speech delivered by Sahaja Douglass, who shared insights about MA Center LA and Amma's teachings on yoga. He reminded participants that yoga extends far beyond physical postures and breathing exercises. Drawing from Amma's wisdom, he emphasized that true yoga is the active practice of taking inner peace into a chaotic world.
Amma, a living master of Karma Yoga—the yoga of selfless action—teaches us that when we serve others without expecting praise, rewards, or recognition, our daily life itself becomes the highest form of spiritual practice. Her teachings inspire us to transform every action into an expression of love, compassion, and selfless service.
As Amma beautifully explains:
Yoga is not merely a one-or two-hour exercise routine. It is a holistic way of life rooted in moral values. Physical health improves with movement, but true mental health requires inner stillness".
The International Day of Yoga celebration served as a wonderful reminder that yoga is not only about personal well-being but also about fostering peace, understanding, and harmony within our communities. MA Center LA is grateful to the Consulate General of India, Loyola Marymount University, and all participating organizations for creating such a meaningful and uplifting event.
We look forward to continuing to share Ammas message of love, selfless service, and inner peace, and to welcoming everyone to the upcoming programs with Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri in July. @Indiainla @CGILosAngeles #Consulate General of India, https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61581648483703&mibextid=wwXIfr&m... https://www.facebook.com/AmmaNorthAmerica
