Mothers Day Retreat with Swami Dayamritananda Puri April 25th

The Mother’s Day Retreat hosted by MA Center LA unfolded as a deeply nourishing gathering at Gandhi’s serene home. The residence felt especially sacred, surcharged with Amma’s energy from her many stays over the years. With warmth and generosity, Gandhi’s home was graciously opened, creating an intimate and uplifting space for all who attended.
Guided by the presence of Swami Dayamritananda Puri, the retreat became much more than a program, it evolved into a shared spiritual experience that touched hearts and inspired reflection. The day began gently with calming yoga stretches, allowing participants to settle into stillness and awareness.
The atmosphere deepened through guided meditation, the chanting of the 108 Names, uplifting bhajans, and Swamiji’s profound spiritual discourse. In his talk, Swamiji reflected on the sacred role of mothers, not only as nurturers in the traditional sense, but as embodiments of unconditional love, patience, and selflessness. He beautifully emphasized that these qualities of motherhood are universal, transcending gender, and are essential virtues for all spiritual aspirants to cultivate.
A delicious and lovingly prepared lunch brought everyone together in fellowship, nourishing both body and spirit.
The afternoon sessions continued the journey inward. Bri. Dr. Maanasi delivered an enlightening talk on “Food and Its Effect on the Mind,” weaving practical guidance with insights from the scriptures and Amma’s teachings. Her words offered simple yet powerful ways to bring mindfulness into daily living through conscious food choices.
Earlier in the day, devotees cherished the opportunity to take a group photo with Swamiji, capturing a joyful and memorable moment together.
Following this, a silent walking meditation allowed participants to absorb the teachings in quiet reflection. Bri. Dr. Sushma then spoke on “Successful Aging, Sleep & Ayurveda.” Her talk was both informative and accessible, blending ancient wisdom with practical advice for maintaining balance and well-being in modern life. amma north america

Participants engaged with sincere questions, and Swamiji responded with deep insight, clarity, and gentle humor that brought both laughter and understanding. His ability to make profound truths relatable left a lasting impression on everyone present.
The retreat concluded with evening bhajans, filling the space with devotion and joy. Throughout the day, delicious food was served with care, and every detail reflected a spirit of love and service.
More than a celebration, this Mother’s Day Retreat became a reminder of the divine motherly presence within all, encouraging each participant to carry those qualities into their daily lives. It was a day of connection, reflection, and heartfelt gratitude, one that will remain in the memories of all who attended. See Pics on Facebook
