Berkeley Mother's Kitchen: Feeding the Community with Heart

Twice a month, on the second and fourth Tuesdays at noon, a remarkable act of care unfolds at the South Berkeley Community Church.

Berkeley Mother’s Kitchen hosts its generous pantry giveaway, distributing approximately 180 thoughtfully curated grocery bags to neighbors in need.

Each distribution is designed to meet a wide range of nutritional and practical needs:

* 45 protein-rich bags include nourishing essentials like eggs, milk, cheese, and frozen fish or other animal proteins.
* 45 fresh produce bags offer seasonal fruits and vegetables to support a healthy diet.
* 45 staple bags are filled with everyday pantry items such as bread, canned tuna, crackers, peanut butter, and snacks.
* 45 bags are specially prepared for unhoused community members, combining easy-to-carry staples with a fresh, ready-to-eat sandwich.

This ongoing effort reflects the mission of Berkeley Mother's Kitchen: to ensure that no one in the community goes hungry, and everyone receives food that is both nourishing and dignified. With consistency, compassion, and coordination, this local initiative makes a powerful impact—one bag at a time.
