Goose Island at MA Center Chicago

George & Gertie are back - and this year, we made sure they had a home to return to. Every spring, this beloved Canada Goose pair returns to one of MA Center Chicago’s ponds to nest and raise their goslings.
Over the years, however, the little island they’ve always called home has slowly eroded. By this season, it was nearly gone.
Inspired by Amma's teachings on caring for Nature, MACC community members came to the rescue. With a canoe, pallets, and some natural materials, they got to work rebuilding the island by hand - a simple act of care and a beautiful expression of seva, of selfless service to Nature.
This story is more than a heartwarming tale about two geese. It’s a reminder that when we protect and care for Nature, Nature responds.
It looks like George and Gertie approve.
