Navaratri Celebrations
Beginning Sunday, September 21, 2025 - 6:30 pm
Durga Puja
Navaratri, which translates to "nine nights" in Sanskrit, is a major annual festival dedicated to the worship of the Goddess Durga. It is celebrated over nine nights and ten days, with the tenth day being known as Vijayadashami. The central theme is the triumph of good over evil.
The festival is often divided into three sets of three days, each focusing on a different aspect of the Goddess:
Durga the Goddess of manifestation of power and strength, for the removal of impurities and the destruction of evil, is celebrated the first 3 days.
Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth, prosperity, and good fortune, to seek her blessings for a prosperous life. The next 3 days.
Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge, arts, and wisdom, to acquire intellectual and spiritual enlightenment. The last 3 days. (Please bring work tools, studies to bring to the altar).
The tenth day, Vijayadashami, marks the culmination of the festival.
