Food Rescue: June 2026

Rescued meal delivery at St Felix Centre May 30 2026

150 pounds of prepared meals delivered to shelter

On May 30, a local hotel kindly donated approximately 150 pounds of prepared food trays to Amma Canada for distribution to those in need. An Amma Canada volunteer immediately delivered the food to St. Felix Centre at 69 Fraser Avenue in downtown Toronto. St. Felix Centre provides a wide range of services to vulnerable community members, including their 24-hour services program providing shelter, safety, food, rest spaces, and social services for people experiencing homelessness.

The St. Felix Centre meal program relies heavily on donations from organizations and community partners. Just as the Amma Canada volunteer arrived with the food donation, there were several people waiting outside looking for something to eat. The timing could not have been better. The donated meals were quickly distributed, and many people left with one or even two nutritious meals in hand. Seeing the relief and gratitude on people's faces was a beautiful reminder of how meaningful food rescue efforts can be. We are grateful to the hotel for its generosity and are hopeful that this may become a regular donation partnership.

The Charitable Team would like to invite our Amma Canada community to help expand these efforts. If you are interested in organizing food rescues in your own neighbourhood, please contact Mahita and Nandini Melody or email ammatoronto@ammagroups.org. Together, we can keep the love flowing, reduce food waste, and ensure that more nourishing meals reach those who need them.

With gratitude,

Amma Canada’s Charitable Team
