Farming Seva - Sep 20

Apples on tree in orchard

Help needed to pick and sort apples this Saturday

A huge thanks to those who came out last Saturday to help with both harvesting in the orchard and vegetable garden. Approximately 500 lbs of apples were picked along with bunches of kale and Malabar spinach. This Saturday, September 20, the Farm Team will continue harvesting apples.  We are in the peak of apple harvest and the team needs your help!!  Some apples have already started to fall off the trees.  We have six apple trees that need to be picked as soon as possible.  In addition to harvesting, the team needs a lot of help in sorting apples that we have picked into first and second grades. If you are able to give us a helping hand (or two), please come out anytime between 11 AM - 4 PM. Please wear comfortable shoes. Kindly let Pauline know by Friday morning if you will be joining the team for lunch.

Our veggie sales this Saturday will feature tomatoes, kale, Malabar spinach, lots of apples. Come support the farm by shopping with us this Saturday between 11 AM - 4 PM. See you on Saturday!

Sundance Commons is hosting a free fruit harvesting workshop in the Amma Canada orchard on Sunday, October 5 from 10 AM - 12 PM. All are welcome to join the workshop, and learn when and how to harvest cherries, peaches, apples and pears, as well as how to handle and store them. The workshop will be followed by a free lunch, and more apple harvesting until 3 PM. If you would like to join, kindly fill out this Google Form. Carpooling will be arranged. If you have any questions, please ask Brian or email ammatoronto@ammagroups.org.
