Pacific Northwest Litter Pick Up Project

Inspired by Amma's campaign to clean up India, members of the MA Center PNW, Seattle launched the GreenFriends Litter Pickup Project in July 2011. Participants from various regions, including Washington, Oregon, British Columbia, and beyond, have joined the effort. Initially organized as work parties, participants are now also encouraged to work individually. In the past years participants were encouraged to report their litter pickup hours monthly - In September of 2020 hours were totaling to 11,584! This project received four grants from King County in 2011 and 2013 to assess cigarette litter in parks.
