Virtual Tarpanam Puja with Swamiji on Mahalaya Amavasya
Pujas performed on the day of Mahalaya Amavasya will benefit and appease deceased family members and ancestors, regardless of when they passed away. On this day, Swami Dayamritananda Puri will guide us in honoring our departed ancestors through a traditional participatory Tarpanam puja ceremony.
Through this ritual we are showing our respect, our gratitude, towards our departed ancestors. Giving verbal thanks only remains as words and does not get translated into action. By partaking in this ritual, we are performing action - spending some time for others. . . and chanting mantras. We therefore get purified, creating positive vibrations. ~ Amma
Free registration is required to participate in the puja. Zoom link will be provided for those who register.
Free Registration opens on Wednesday, September 2 at 10:00 am and closes on Sunday, September 13 at 11:30 pm: https://macsrvirtualtarpanamsept2020.eventbrite.com
Each participant will create their individual puja setup at home to perform the ceremony for their departed ancestors. Here is a link to the list of materials needed, and directions for puja preparation and setup: http://bit.ly/MACSRTarpanamPrep
The ceremony will include the guided participatory puja, bhajans (devotional songs), and chanting, led by Swami Dayamritananda Puri.
Earlier the same morning, starting at 6:30 am, Pujarini Meera will be performing a Virtual Homa Fire Ceremony for Departed Souls. More information and registration is available here: https://macvirtualhomasept2020.eventbrite.com
