Craft Guild Quilted Hearts Workshop: In-person

Make quilted hearts for the “I Found a Quilted Heart” random acts of kindness project. Learn the basics of quilting while participating in this fun workshop aimed at spreading happiness within the community.
Cost: $5 cash or check at the door
‘I found a quilted heart’ (IFAQH) is a community of anonymous volunteers leaving quilted hearts, mostly palm sized, in public places to bring joy to a stranger who happens to find the heart. This program is a 'random acts of kindness' project that was started ten years ago by three sisters who found the original quilted heart while hiking. Inspired by the idea of bringing a smile to a random stranger, we will be hosting a workshop to create our own hand-sewn, quilted hearts to give away!
This is a sustainable sewing workshop using reclaimed materials consisting of scraps of fabric, trim, buttons, embroidery supplies, and wadding to create unique quilted hearts. This workshop will focus on hand stitching, but participants who have their own sewing machine are welcome to bring them along.
Materials will be supplied for each participant to make one to two quilted hearts during the workshop. Please feel free to bring your own favorite fabric scraps, scissors, and trimmings to add to your own heart and share with other participants. At the workshop we will learn more about the guidelines set down by IFAQH project for making the hearts and distributing them in public places.
The workshop is open to beginners and experienced quilters - all are welcome! Older children accompanied by a parent may also join.
For more information on the IFAQH project, please visit their website.
Masks Indoors are optional and a personal preference. We request you to remember that the health and safety of all who wish to attend the program should remain uppermost in our minds and hearts. If you feel at all sick, have a fever, or have been exposed to anyone who tests positive for Covid-19, please do not attend.
