(Yearly event) Jul 02, 2023 to Jul 12, 2025 (ended)

The full moon (purnima) day in the Hindu calendar month of Ashadha (July-August) is celebrated as Guru Purnima. It is a day to pay respect to one's guru, particularly the one who leads you in your spiritual path.

This year, Guru Purnima falls on Thursday, July 10th. MA Center Chicago warmly invites you to join us for our Guru Purnima satsang on Saturday, July 12th. Satsang will start at 4:00 pm with archana, followed by a Guru Paduka Puja (worship of the Guru's sandals), bhajans, meditation, arati, prayers for world peace, and a community dinner. Prior to satsang, we'll be chanting archana every hour on the hour starting at noon. Here's the schedule:

12:00 - 5:00PM - Hourly Archana Chanting
5:00 - 5:30PM - Amma's Guru Purnima Message
5:30 - 6:30PM  - Guru Paduka Puja
6:30 - 7:00PM - Chants and Bhajans, ending with Mahishasuramardini Stotram
7:00- 7:45PM - Arati, Meditation, and concluding prayers
7:45- 8:45PM - Dinner

If you have any questions, please email macenterchicago@ammagroups.org.

“We are in the grip of our ego and because of this we hold on to our likes and dislikes. In order to break away from the ego, we need the help of a Sadguru. Amma's goal is to give her children this strength and love. If we let go of our likes and dislikes, we will become fit vessels to receive the Guru's ever-flowing grace. We can become freed from our mind and become a blessing to the entire world.”  - from Amma's 2012 Guru Purnima message
