Summer Arrives at Amma Canada Farms

Amma Canada Farms veggie garden - June 27 2026

Harvesting our first fruits and veggies of the year

After the intense work of Spring planting and the relocation of the vegetable garden and the beehives, the Amma Canada Farms team is starting to see the first fruits of their labours. The crops in the veggie garden and orchard are growing rapidly, and the flower gardens are beautifully in bloom.

Sweet cherry harvest

On Saturday, June 27, sevites harvested the first batch of kale, Swiss chard, and green beans. There are flowers and tiny fruits on the zucchini, tomatoes and okra. Very exciting!

The orchard team also harvested the first fruits of the year: sweet cherries. Between June 24-27, the team picked over 50 lbs of sweet cherries, our earliest ever harvest of cherries! They were quickly bought up by happy customers. The next fruits to be harvested will be peaches and summer pears in August.

The bee hives at Amma Canada Farms are likewise humming with happy activity. There are a total of fourteen hives now at Amma Canada Farms: five belonging to Amma Canada, and nine belonging to Bees Are Life. All the hives are doing well, and seem very happy in their new location. It is much easier now for visitors to the farm to have a peek at the hives, and the bees and veggie gardeners are learning how to work together peacefully, side by side.

From now until November, Amma Canada Farms seasonal veggies and fruits will be available for purchase at the farm on Saturdays between 12-3 PM. There is also still honey available for $13 a jar. Please support Amma Canada's environmental and charitable activities by shopping with us! And, as always, you are warmly invited to join us for Farm Seva on Saturdays between 10 AM - 3 PM.
