Volunteers mixing chilli

Making Chilli for Food Bank Clients just before Mother's Day

Amma Canada volunteer opening cans of beans & tomatoesSeveral volunteers gathered at the Amma Canada Centre on Friday, May 9 to chop veggies, prepare, and cook seven crock pots of delicious vegetarian chilli to serve guests at Georgetown Bread Basket (GBB). Led by lead cooks Pauline and Mohan, the team chopped veggies, opened cans of beans and tomatoes, and added seasonings to make the chilli, and let it simmer overnight in the crock pots.

On the morning of Saturday, May 10, Jnanada and Mahita transported the crock pots to the GBB, and served the chilli in takeout containers to grateful families and seniors. GBB staff thanked Amma Canada for their participation in serving their guests. If you wish to participate in the next chilli preparation or serving, please contact Mahita at ammatoronto@ammagroups.org
