Farming Seva - Apr 19

Join the Farm Team for pruning, mulching & bed prep
On April 1, a consultant came to inspect the upper orchard, as the trees are overcrowded and have developed a fungal infection that has spread throughout the entire upper orchard. Sadly, we need to remove every other apple tree to give the others a chance to recover. From now until the long weekend in May, the Farm will be focused on removing these trees, preparing the soil in the veggie garden for planting, and doing some limited pruning in the lower orchard. The area around the bee hives also needs to be cleaned up, and wood chips laid down to suppress the grass around the hives. Work will also commence in the flower gardens, and we will be setting up a new area for composting.
The Farm is providing us with plenty of opportunities for seva (selfless service)! If you would like to burn off a little karma, you are welcome to come and give us a hand for any length of time this Saturday, April 19 between 11 AM - 3 PM. Any help you can give is much appreciated! Please bring your own lunch. If you have questions, please contact Brian or email ammatoronto@ammagroups.org
