Lead us to Sight

An eyeglass collection drive for the poor and needy - was started by MA Center San Ramon, in 2023 in honor of Amma's 70th Birthday.

In partnership with the Eyelab Factory Outlet store in San Ramon, California, glasses and frames donated by the community are passed on to the Lion's Club 'Recycle for Sight' program which refurbishes and distributes them free of charge to those in need around the world.

As of June 2026, over 1500 pairs have been donated.

Community members can bring donations to any program at MA Center San Ramon.  A collection box is located just inside the entrance of Amrita Hall.  Frames, reading glasses, sunglasses, single-vision bifocal, prescription and non-prescription are all welcome.

Why Recycle Glasses?

An estimated 120 million people* are visually impaired because of uncorrected refractive errors (far and near sightedness). Almost all cases can be corrected and normal vision can be restored with eyeglasses, contact lenses or refractive surgery. The lack of eyeglasses denies children and adults opportunities for education, employment and a better quality of life. - From Lion’s Club brochure.
