Significance of Ganesh Chaturthi
Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations begin on the fourth day of the month of Bhadrapada as per the Indian (lunar) calendar. It is believed that it is the day when Goddess Parvati, through her divine powers, brought into being Lord Ganesha through an idol made by her using sandalwood paste.
This is a very special time of the year where new ventures are started, Lord Ganesha is worshipped to overcome obstacles and problems in the life of a spiritual aspirant. A clay idol of Ganesha is worshipped everyday before it is immersed into the water on the very last day of the observance. It signifies our spiritual journey wherein we imbibe the qualities of the Divine through a form initially and go beyond the form at some point of time to realize the supreme truth and the Divine truly represents.
