Planting Joy! Organic Gardening Workshop

Learn to plant organic summer vegetables in small garden spaces from a master gardener.
Join us for this hands-on experience. You will learn about:
- Space-saving techniques
- Compost & irrigation
- Planting, mulching, growing, and harvesting summer vegetables including Beans, Cucumbers, Eggplant, Kale, Okra, Peppers, and Tomatoes.
A Learning Guide will be sent to participants via email after the event, and you will take home an heirloom plant of your choice.
Cost is $20 per person; $6 for boxed vegetarian lunch (optional). Please register as soon as possible - space is limited.

Workshop Agenda:
- 9 - 9:30 - Arrival and sign-in
- 9:30 - 10:30 - Compost and soil health: Learn about this valuable nutritional resource and apply it to the garden beds.
- 10:30 - 11:00 - Chai Break
- 11:00 - 12:30 - Planning, Planting and Growing! Learn about how to plan your garden, companion planting, and irrigation options, and practice hands-on planting techniques. Learn about maintaining the garden, harvesting throughout the summer, and how to keep your plants happy and productive.
- 12:30 - 1:00 - Q&A, followed by lunch
About the Instructor
Amartya is a Master Gardener volunteer with the University of California division of Agriculture and Natural Resources (UCNR)
She has led the vegetable garden activities at MA Center since 2019, including managing sales of heirloom seedlings and organic vegetables at our farm stand. Prior to that, she owned and ran an organic farm in the province of Ontario, Canada, for eight years. She is passionate about holistic, climate conscious gardening.

If there is no Saturday program in the temple hall, bhajans are in the Main House at 7 PM.

Directions
The Main House is on the hill above the temple hall. When you arrive at MA Center, turn right and cross over the small bridge. Use the call box on your left just before the outer gate to communicate that you need the gate opened to drive through. Then follow the road past the temple. The road continues on the right next to the temple gate, then curves left up the hill to the Main House. The puja room is just inside the front door to the house.
