Ganesh Visarjan - Murthi Immersion

Sep 18, 2021 6:00pm-7:30pm (ended)

Ganesh Visarjan - Murthi Immersion - is the culmination of Ganesh Chaturthi. The symbolism of the immersion ceremony is that all forms are temporary, having both their origin and final destination in the formless Absolute.

The program will be led virtually from MA Center. Participants will be guided through a short puja ceremony to their Ganesh figure, after which everyone can take ten minutes to immerse their clay murthis in a bucket of water*. Bhajans (devotional singing) will follow.

The program will be livestreamed on the MA Center San Ramon YouTube channel at this link: https://youtu.be/cmhXQrfMIwc

*After the murthis dissolve, the water can be used to water your plants. You are also welcome to take your murthi to a nearby body of water for immersion, although that would take longer than 10 minutes.

Ganesh Chaturthi is a three-part event:
September 4-8: Ganesh Murthi Making
Thursday, September 9: Ganesh Chaturthi Puja
Saturday, September 18. 6:00-7:30 pm: Ganesh Visarjan - Immersion Ceremony
