Murugan Thaipusam Satsang

Thaipusam is dedicated to the Hindu god Murugan, the son of Shiva and Parvati. Murugan is also known as Kartikeya, Subramaniam, Sanmukha, Shadanana, Skanda, and Guha. It is believed that on this day, Goddess Parvati presented a lance to Lord Murugan to help him vanquish the demon army of Tarakasura and combat their evil deeds. Therefore, Thaipusam serves as a celebration of the victory of good over evil.
Join us for a day of community and devotion at MA Center Chicago, featuring a special Murugan Thaipusam satsang which will include a talk on the significance of Thaipsuam, a Muruga puja, and Muruga bhajans. Satsang will begin at 4:00 pm with archana (chanting the divine names). We have other programs on Saturday as well. Here's the full schedule:
4:00 pm - Archana (chanting of the divine names)
5:00 pm - Murugan Thaipsuam satsang
5:30 pm - Muruga puja
6:00 - 7:30 pm - Bhajans, arati, meditation, closing prayers, and prasad
After satsang, a delicious vegetarian meal will be available for a modest donation.
