MACC celebrates Guru Nanak Jayanti on Saturday, November 7th. Guru Nanak Jayanti (Guru Nanak’s Birthday) to those of the Sikh religion is tantamount to the celebration of Amma’s birthday to Amma devotees.

Guru Nanak is the founder and the first of the ten Gurus of the Sikh religion. The word ‘Sikh’ in Punjabi –the language of Punjab, a northern state of India- means ‘disciple.’ Oneness and love serve as the foundations of Sikh theology — these are both the objective and process. Sikhs aim to recognize the divinity within everyone and everything they encounter, and this daily practice helps the individual cultivate and embody the qualities of oneness and love.

The celebration of the Jayanti is a delectable blend of reverence, devotion, gaiety, and pride.

A team is at work to make this evening a fascinating one –with interactive presentations, musical performance, Bhangra –the unique dance form from Punjab, optional turban tying, and exquisite Punjabi food. There will be a few ‘guest stars’ from the local Sikh community to enliven the celebration.

The evening will start with the Satsang where Br. Shantamritaji will deliver a short talk highlighting the Jayanti, followed by a short session of Bhajans, Árti, and Meditation.

DO NOT MISS THIS COLORFUL EVENT!
