Special Navaratri Satsang by Swamini Ambikamrita Prana
Sunday, October 3, 2021
7:00 pm MDT
In preparation for Navaratri, Swamini Ambikamrita Prana will give a satsang (spiritual discourse). The program will be broadcast on the MA Center, San Ramon YouTube channel, at this link : https://youtu.be/fQM41u5JQ-4
The subject: "Devi Mahatmyam for the Clueless: it's significance for Navaratri and to spiritual seekers". The Devi Mahatmyam (Glory of the Goddess) is one of the most ancient and important scriptures of the Hindu Goddess tradition. It describes the Goddess as the supreme power and creator of the universe, and is traditionally read during Navaratri.
Navaratri, 'Nine Nights' in Sanskrit, symbolizes the stages of spiritual progress, personified by Durga who removes negative tendencies, Lakshmi who gives good qualities and Saraswati who brings enlightenment after the purification of Durga and Lakshmi. The tenth morning after the nine nights is known as Vijayadashami, the ‘tenth day of victory.’
Navaratri, will be celebrated by MA Center from Wednesday, October 6 to Thursday, October 14. During these nine nights, three nights each will be dedicated to honoring Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. Each night, a puja ceremony will be performed, along with group chanting and bhajans (devotional singing), led by Swami Dayamritananda Puri.
