Tila Homa for Mahalaya Amavasya 2026

Body

Pujas performed on Mahalaya Amavasya, also called Sarva Pitru Moksha Amavasya, are considered especially beneficial for departed family members and ancestors. The day marks the end of the Pitru Paksha period and is an auspicious time to offer prayers and perform rituals in remembrance of our ancestors.

On Saturday, October 10, 2026, four M.A. Centers in North America will offer a Tila Homa, a sacred fire ceremony, to pay homage to departed souls. You can register for a sankalpa (special resolve) to be made during the homa, on your own behalf or for a loved one. Times, places and registration are on each Center’s event page below.
