Pujas performed on Mahalaya Amavasya — also called Sarva Pitru Moksha Amavasya — are considered especially beneficial for departed family members and ancestors. On this day Pujari Devidas will conduct a Tila Homa, a sacred fire ceremony, to pay homage to departed souls. In keeping with Amma's wish that homas be performed periodically for her devotees who have passed away, MA Center will make a special sankalpa for them during the homa.

You may register for a sankalpa (special resolve) to be made during the homa on your own behalf or for a loved one; those who register do not need to be present to receive its benefits. Sankalpa registration closes on Friday, October 9, at 6:00 p.m. Pacific.
Homas offered on this day: Tila, Maha Ganapathy, Ganapathy, Navagraha (all nine planets), and the individual planets — Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu.
