Vishu Satsang

Please join us in Satsang to celebrate Vishu, Puthandu, Baisakhi and other festivals associated with Mesha/Meda Sankranti.

Significance
April 14, 2026, marks Mesha/Meda Sankranti, when the Sun enters Aries. Several major regional Hindu, Sikh, and solar new year festivals are celebrated across India. Key celebrations include:
- Vishu: Although sometimes celebrated on April 15th, many observe the Kerala New Year on this day.
- Baisakhi/Vaisakhi (Punjab/North India) : A major harvest festival and the Punjabi/Sikh New Year.
- Puthandu (Tamil New Year): The first day of the Tamil calendar.
- Pohela Boishakh (Bengali New Year): Celebrated in West Bengal and Tripura.
- Maha Vishuva Sankranti: The Odia New Year in Odisha.
Celebration
These festivals herald the beginning of the New Year per many Indian regional calendars and the festivals are celebrated in a big way. To celebrate the various festivals, a Vishu Sadya (feast) consisting of an elaborate array of traditional vegetarian items will be served for lunch following the Satsang.
