Tabla Duo In Teen Taal by Michael Darling and Sanchit Singh Followed by popular Bhajans by Al Nasir Kassam accompanied on Tabla by Pavan Kalasikam.

$10 suggested donation.
Proceeds to benefit Puerto Rico hurricane relief.

 

Al-Nasir is originally from Tanzania, in East Africa. He came to the United States at the tender age of 10 years. His interest and passion for Indian music began at an early age and was encouraged by his parents to learn professionally from a family friend, Ustad Shamshuddin Jamal in Vancouver, Canada. Al-Nasir, adopted his teacher's unique style of Ghazal singing which follows form of famous Pakistani ghazal singers such as Ustad Mehdi Hassan and Ustad Ghulam Ali. Al-Nasir resides in Albuquerque, NM and has performed with Ustad Parvez Mehdi at many venues in the United States and Canada.

Pavan Kalasikam is a classical tablist from Hyderabad, India. He began performing on stage since the age of five. Pavan is trained under the guidance of Ustad Najmuddin Qadri, Sri Shesha Chelapati, and his mother Smt. Jayasri Kalasikam. He has taught tabla to students in India and worked professionally with both Hindustani and Carnatic musicians and composers. After moving to the United States, Pavan continues to perform with artists who represent different genres including classical, ghazal, flamenco and bollywood music. Most recently he studied with Sarod Maestro Amjad Ali Khan. Pavan lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The daily ashram routine includes archana (chanting of the 108 Names of Amma and the 1000 Names of the Divine Mother), meditation, seva (volunteering or service) and bhajans (devotional singing).

The Santa Fe Satsang meets on Saturday nights, from at 5:00pm-7:30pm in the temple. Arrive by 4:15pm if you would like to chant the 1000 names of Sri Lalita before Satsang begins.
