In addition to its ongoing weekly HOPE meals and monthly Downtown Women's Center lunches, Mother's Kitchen Los Angeles launched a new weekly food-rescue project — recovering fresh produce and putting it to good use for the community's most food-insecure neighbours.
Each week, volunteers help transport cases of fresh vegetables from the Santa Monica Farmers' Market to MA Center LA, and prep the produce within a few days of delivery for the kitchen's meals. It is a simple, practical way to honor Amma's request that nothing go to waste — and everyone is welcome to lend a hand.
