On March 8th, sevites from M.A. Center Atlanta came together to prepare and serve a nourishing hot lunch for the youth at Covenant House, Georgia — a heartfelt thank you to every volunteer whose time, effort and kindness made the offering possible.
Each month, 4 to 6 dedicated volunteers gather to prepare a wholesome vegetarian meal for around 60 young people, ages 18 to 21, residing at the shelter. The menu is thoughtfully balanced and nourishing — fresh vegetables, lentils or beans for plant-based protein, and seasonal fruit for dessert. Service begins at 8:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of each month in the ashram kitchen; by 10:45 a.m. the meal is ready and delivered to be served at noon.
The kids wait for a freshly cooked meal filled with taste… they appreciate the fresh salads and fruits. Many even say, "This is so good — maybe I should become a vegetarian!" So thank you very much! — Covenant House meals coordinator
These monthly meals are more than just food — they are an expression of compassion, community and the joy of giving.
