Monthly Karthika Observance
Please join Swami Dayamritananda Puri in Satsang, offering special prayers on this occasion. The event is both an in-person and online event. Come in-person on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, or watch the livestream here.
A monthly birthday is traditionally observed in India that is based on the moon’s position in addition to the annual birthday observed in the West, which is based on the sun’s position. According to the Indian calendar, Karthika is the nakshatram (star constellation) in which the moon was transiting at the time of Amma’s birth, and so each time the moon returns to this spot in the heavens, approximately every 28 days, it is considered to be Amma’s birthday. This day is dedicated to Amma and is traditionally celebrated by Her children across the globe by doing various spiritual practices.
The Karthika day observance would include:
Brief Meditation
108 Names of Amma
Amma's Karthika Star Bhajan
Mahishasura Mardini Stotram
Bhajans
Prayer for World Peace
