Caring for the High Desert

Guided by Amma's teaching that caring for nature and caring for our neighbours are one and the same, the Amma Center tends an orchard of nearly fifty fruit trees — including saplings grown at the ashram itself — along with flower and vegetable gardens, in the challenging beauty of the Santa Fe high desert.
Orchard Workdays
Volunteers gather through the growing season to weed, water and spread mulch around the trees and gardens — hard, joyful work that usually begins with a group prayer and ends with fresh chai and hot burritos from the Burrito Project.
