Navaratri, which translates to "nine nights" in Sanskrit, is a major annual festival dedicated to the worship of the Divine Mother in Her forms of Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. Traditionally, it is celebrated over nine nights and ten days. The tenth day is known as Vijayadashami. The central theme is the triumph of good over evil. The festival is divided into three sets of three days, each focusing on a different aspect of the Goddess. We will have a Puja on the following dates –

Navaratri Pujas

October 10th Durga Puja: The Goddess of manifestation of power and strength, for the removal of impurities and destruction of evil.

October 14th Lakshmi Puja:  The Goddess of wealth, prosperity, and good fortune, to seek her blessings for a prosperous life.

October 17th Saraswati Puja: The Goddess of knowledge, arts, and wisdom, to acquire intellectual and spiritual enlightenment. (bring work tools and study materials to put at the altar)

October 20th Vijayadashami: Vijaya means "victory" and "dashami" means tenth. Our final celebration together celebrating Victory over evil.

All Pujas will begin at 5:45 pm
There will be a light meal on Saturday Oct. 10 & 17 @ 4:30 pm
There will not be a meal on Wednesday, October 14 & Tuesday, October 20th.

You are warmly invited to come celebrate with us. Come to one puja or come to all. Invite your friends. It is a very special time to come together in prayer and worship.

"During the first 3 days we concentrate on Durga and beg her to remove all our negative tendencies of hate, fear, anger, and jealousy.
For the next 3 days we worship Lakshmi and beg her to replace these negative qualities with the positive qualities of cheer, joy, and love.
In such a purified heart, Saraswati, the Goddess of spiritual success, may deign to come and give liberation, and we pray for that over the final 3 days.
When we want to plant a garden, we must first root out the weeds, and for this we need the help of Kali/Durga. When the ground has been prepared we can invite Lakshmi to come and plant the flowers. Only then will Saraswati appear to give us the fruit of Supreme Knowledge"
