Please note: high-mountain weather is unpredictable — rain, hail, snow, high winds and strong sun are all possible throughout the year. In winter (roughly November–April), the final dirt road is best driven with four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive and chains.
Driving Directions
- From Albuquerque (I-25 north): take Exit 284 (Old Pecos Trail); follow Old Las Vegas Highway and El Gancho Way to Old Santa Fe Trail; drive about 3.3 miles and turn right at Stone Cabin Road (marked by a black mailbox); follow the road about 0.5 mile.
- From Las Vegas / Colorado (I-25 south): take Exit 290 at Clines Corners onto Old Las Vegas Highway for about 3 miles; turn right on County Road 67-C and continue 1.7 miles; turn right on Stone Cabin Road (a dirt road with a green sign).
- From northern New Mexico (US-285): enter Santa Fe on 285 (which becomes St. Francis Drive); make your way via Cordova Road and Old Pecos Trail to Old Las Vegas Highway for about 3 miles, then follow the 67-C directions above.
