MA Center Michigan undertook the 2024 Operation Backpack® drive as a Guru Purnima offering. What began as an ambitious goal became a reality with diverse sections of our community rallying together. The outpouring of support has been truly heartwarming. These backpacks represent more than just supplies; they symbolize hope and opportunity for these students.
The initiative saw 100 backpacks with essential school supplies delivered to the Volunteers of America headquarters. Each backpack was carefully prepared with grade-appropriate supplies, tailored for either K-5 or 6-12 students, meeting the specific needs of each age group. In addition, we also directed 8 backpacks specifically to a local school, ensuring that students in the immediate community have access to the resources they need to thrive in their academic journey.
Symbolically, we presented Amma with an album featuring all sponsors in a mini canvas backpack adorned with 108 hand-painted flowers. See the album here.
