On November 4th, 2017, MA Center LA launched a new recurring event — the Laksharchana, chanting the names of the Divine Mother (the Lalita Sahasranama) 100,000 times in dedication to Amma. In Sanskrit, laksham means one lakh, or 100,000; the Laksharchana is considered a very sacred and powerful practice.
The inaugural event was a joyful success, with over 40 people attending from multiple Southern California cities — some traveling from as far as San Diego — to chant the archana back-to-back five times in one sitting. The day ran from 9 AM to 2 PM, with gentle stretching between chanting and delicious chai served throughout. Everyone was enthusiastic, and delighted to learn that the Laksharchana would become a regular quarterly event at the center.
