Welcome to the Berkeley/Oakland Satsang

Our satsang gathers every week for a warm, family-style evening with Amma online, and serves the East Bay through the Berkeley Mother's Kitchen food pantry and a twice-monthly Amrita Book Club.

Whether you have known Amma for years or are simply curious, all are warmly welcome to join us.

When we dedicate ourselves solely to the well-being of others, it is our own mind that becomes pure. When you give your friend a bouquet of flowers, you are the one who first enjoys their beauty and fragrance. In the same way, you can derive happiness from selfless acts.

— Amma

Amma encourages devotees to gather regularly, whether weekly at a home or a hall, to sing, meditate, and pray together, and then to share a meal as a spiritual family. It is an atmosphere that steadies the mind, uplifts everyone present, and quietly shapes the children who grow up in it.

Satsang Schedule

Weekly

We gather every Tuesday, 7:30–8:30 PM, for a warm, family-style evening with Amma online — chanting, bhajans, and quiet reflection together. All are warmly welcome.

Monthly

The East Bay Amrita Book Club meets twice a month on Sunday mornings, 11:00 AM–12:30 PM, on Zoom, to read and reflect on books close to Amma's teachings. All are welcome to join the conversation.

Berkeley Mother's Kitchen Food Pantry

Twice a month on Tuesday mornings, our members run a food pantry in Berkeley, gathering and sharing groceries with neighbors in need. Contributions and helping hands are always welcome — contact Vijaya Rotman at (510) 524-7865.

Kitchen seva
Children, never waste an opportunity to serve. The entire world looks up to those who have the heart to do selfless service.
