Satsang & Bhajans

Body

Bhajans are poetic compositions sung in groups — prayers in a musical form. Some are purely devotional, while others celebrate universal human values. Over a thousand original bhajans have been composed by Amma, her disciples, and devotees in many languages — Sanskrit, Malayalam (Amma’s mother tongue), Hindi, English, French, Spanish, and more. Amma herself has sung bhajans in over 50 languages and dialects.

To sing a bhajan wholeheartedly is an experience akin to meditation. Amma recommends devotional singing as a highly effective practice for everyone.

Devotional singing is the spontaneous music of the soul. Sing from the depth of your hearts! A bhajan sung with one-pointedness will benefit the singer, the listener, and also Nature.

Across North America, our Centers and local satsang groups gather regularly to sing bhajans, meditate together, and share in Amma’s teachings. All are warmly welcome — no experience is needed, only an open heart.
