Feeding Our Neighbours
For over 20 years, on the first Saturday of each month, Mother's Kitchen volunteers inspired by Amma have prepared and served a healthy vegetarian meal for the residents of a homeless women's shelter in Rockville, Maryland — the only emergency shelter for homeless women in the county. Today the greater Washington DC chapter serves at shelters across four locations — Rockville and Bethesda in Maryland, Falls Church in Virginia, and Washington, DC — four weekends every month.

A Movement of Compassion
Mother's Kitchen was founded in 1996, when devotees inspired by Amma began serving a small soup kitchen with meals twice a month. It has since grown to more than 40 chapters across the United States, Canada and Costa Rica — most partnering with existing shelters and soup kitchens, sourcing food through donations and preparing and serving it with love.
