Around 90 devotees gathered at Amma's ashram in Potomac for a winter retreat led by Br. Dayamrita Chaitanya, one of Amma's senior monastic disciples. The retreat spanned Friday through Sunday, with participants choosing to stay overnight or attend by day.
Saturday's program included the chanting of the 108 Names of Amma, a scripture class on the Guru Gita — focusing on the verses commonly chanted as the Guru Stotram — meditation, devotional singing, lunch, and a lively Q&A and games in the evening, followed by an Indian dinner. Sunday began with early-morning yoga and continued teachings.
A central teaching wove through the weekend: "The Guru dips a knife into the ointment of knowledge and removes our cataracts of ignorance," guiding the seeker from duality toward the awareness of oneness. The retreat closed with devotional singing and gratitude for a blessed and peaceful weekend.
