Inspired by Amma’s example, San Ramon volunteers respond wherever there is need across Northern California — in times of disaster and in ongoing service to those experiencing homelessness and hardship.
Disaster Relief
When the North Bay fires struck in October 2017, volunteers from MA Center San Ramon drove donations — blankets, masks, food, water and more — to the hundreds of evacuees housed at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, and stayed to help sort supplies. The center has repeatedly gathered and delivered relief for wildfire and flood emergencies across the region.
Feeding Our Neighbours
Bay Area satsang members serve regularly at the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, sorting donated food for local families. Around Amma’s birthday each year, the community organizes outreach activities — from Habitat for Humanity builds to serving lunch at St. Anthony’s in San Francisco and in parks across the South Bay. Berkeley Mother’s Kitchen’s annual Christmas meal serves a three-course dinner with gifts, warm clothes and grocery cards to roughly 120 guests.
