Join us for an all-day celebration of Amma's 73rd birthday, observed this year as Vishwa Seva Dinam — A Day of Selfless Service. At Amma's wish, her birthday is being marked around the world through seva — transforming our love and gratitude for Amma into acts of compassion for others, care for our communities and the environment, and prayers for world peace.
Here in San Ramon we will come together through archana, puja, bhajans, meditation and hands-on service throughout the day. Come for the full day or any part of the program, and together let us offer Amma a birthday gift close to her heart: our love in action.
Schedule — Sunday, September 27, Amrita Hall
- 9:00–10:15 a.m. — Archana with Swamiji
- 10:15–11:45 a.m. — Guru Paduka Puja by Swamiji, with chants and bhajans
- 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. — Prasad distribution, chai and a light snack
- 12:30–1:00 p.m. — World peace meditation led by Swamiji
- 1:00–2:00 p.m. — Lunch
- 2:00–4:00 p.m. — Vishwa Seva Dinam: service-in-action activities for all ages and abilities, on three themes — serving those in need, caring for Mother Earth, and prayers for world peace
- 4:00–4:45 p.m. — Chai and a light snack
- 4:45–5:15 p.m. — Children's cultural performances
- 5:15–6:00 p.m. — Satsang by Swamiji
- 6:00–7:30 p.m. — Bhajans with Swamiji, arati and closing prayers, offering 1008 candles for world peace
- 7:30–9:00 p.m. — Dinner and Amma's birthday sweets
Meals. All meals are complimentary in celebration of Amma's birthday. If you would like lunch and/or dinner, please fill out the meal RSVP form by Friday, September 25, so the kitchen team can plan.
BART pickup. Carpools and pickups from Castro Valley BART station are available at 9:45 a.m. for the morning program and 4:15 p.m. for the evening program. RSVP is required by 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26: BART pickup RSVP.
Carpooling and offsite parking. To minimize traffic on Crow Canyon Road and comply with county requirements, please carpool — vehicles need at least three people to park onsite. During the arrival windows (8:00–10:30 a.m. for the morning program, 12:00–1:00 p.m. for lunch, and 3:30–6:30 p.m. for the evening program), onsite parking is reserved for vehicles with three or more people. If you are arriving alone or with one other person, please go directly to the offsite lot at 2333 San Ramon Valley Blvd, San Ramon, CA 94583; shuttles and facilitated carpools will bring you to the MA Center, and facilitated carpools run throughout the program to take you back to the offsite lot.
