For the first time at MA Center Chicago, Onam and Krishna Jayanthi were celebrated together on Saturday, September 5th, 2025.
The festivities commenced with setting up the Pookalam (flower arrangement), a traditional Onam sadhya (lunch) followed by games and cultural events in the true spirit of Onam, Kerala's harvest festival. The festivities included musical chair for youth and adults, tug-of-war and Thiruvathira (a traditional Kerala dance form) performed by women and kids.
The evening program focused on Krishna Jayanthi which included a Krisha puja, bhajans as well as Uri Adi (the breaking of the pot celebration).
