MA Center Chicago celebrated Diwali, the festival of lights, on November 10, 2012 — with a special interfaith Festival of Divine Light, cultural programs and fireworks.
The celebration was opened by Br. Shantamrita after 4:00 p.m. with an invocation of the inner light, symbolized by the lighting of external lamps. Representatives from over seven faith traditions were each invited to light a lamp and share, in a few minutes, their tradition’s teachings on light and illumination — including speakers of the Seventh-day Adventist, Muslim, Jewish, Sikh and Mennonite faiths, alongside Amma’s teachings.
The evening continued with cultural programs and firecrackers to mark the joyous occasion.
