Welcome to the Asheville Satsang

An all-embracing Amma community since 2001, our satsang gathers one Sunday a month in the hills near Asheville to read from Amma's life and teachings, chant her names, sing bhajans, and meditate, closing with a shared potluck.

Whether you have known Amma for years or are simply curious, all are warmly welcome to join us.

When we dedicate ourselves solely to the well-being of others, it is our own mind that becomes pure. When you give your friend a bouquet of flowers, you are the one who first enjoys their beauty and fragrance. In the same way, you can derive happiness from selfless acts.

— Amma

Amma encourages devotees to gather regularly, whether weekly at a home or a hall, to sing, meditate, and pray together, and then to share a meal as a spiritual family. It is an atmosphere that steadies the mind, uplifts everyone present, and quietly shapes the children who grow up in it.

Satsang Schedule

Monthly

We meet on the third Sunday of each month, 12:00–2:00 PM, at a home in rural Leicester, about twenty minutes from Asheville. After a welcome for newcomers, we share a reading or video of Amma, chant her 108 Names, sing bhajans, meditate, and close with arati and a potluck. All are warmly welcome, including newcomers and children.
