In Amma's Own Words

“The whole world has been shaken by the gruesome act of violence that happened at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. Twenty innocent little angels with their whole lives in front of them and six staff members who did their best to protect the children are no longer with us today.

The meeting, titled Harmony Through Diversity, brought together 150 participants from the Asia-Pacific region representing governments, academia, corporations, NGOs and cultural organizations. The goal was to improve mutual understanding and cooperation between nations, cultures and religions. Amma was the only spiritual leader invited to attend.

Amma's Birthday at M.A. Center, San Ramon

Amma’s Birthday Celebration at the M.A. Center, San Ramon is the largest program of the year, except for when Amma is here. It is held on the actual date of Amma’s Birth, September 27.  This year, as always, it was a full day program filled with devotion, community, service and celebration.

The day was inaugurated with an Auspicious Homa Fire Ceremony for World Peace and the Harmony of Mother Nature that was performed by Bri. Remadevi, beginning at 5:30am.  Many people were able to attend the Homa before going to work or school.

Our Re-connection: Amma's 59th Birthday

About 60 people joined the celebration of Amma's 59th birthday in Vancouver, BC. The celebration included worship of the guru's feet, or pada puja, recitation of Amma's 108 names, a reading from Amma's teachings and heartfelt devotional singing, and the evening ended with a delicious dinner and a raffle for prizes.

Suneeti, one of our coordinators, began the evening with this introduction:
