Amma's Way - North American Premiere

Amma's Way: A Journey to Embrace the World Again - The documentary directed by Anna Agnelli, was the opening night film at the ILLUMINATE Film Festival, on November 5. Opening Day at ILLUMINATE!  - Inspiring films, transformational moments, moving musical performances, and conscious connections. The film screening was followed by Q & A with Swami Dayamritananda Puri (Executive Director MA Centers, North America), Awards Ceremony and Sing Into Love Music Performance with Ananda Das.

Bags of Hope for the Homeless

This year the GreenFriend’s team wanted to do something for the community on Amma’s Birthday, spreading Her message of Motherhood and helping those less fortunate.
When this peace initiative of giving 68 Bags of Hope inspired by Claudia, who helps the homeless on a weekly basis came into fruition, it felt like this is Amma’s way.

Amma was conferred with an honorary degree—D.Litt from the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology in recognition of Amma’s great contributions in the field of spirituality, education, environmental issues, humanitarian efforts, love and compassion.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Amma’s 67th birthday was observed today exclusively as a global prayer for world peace. Ashram residents as well as devotees from around the world dedicated the day to meditation, chanting of prayers and worship. Amma also delivered her annual birthday message. Normally, the occasion finds hundreds of thousands of devotees from around the world making the pilgrimage to the ashram, with participation from heads of the central and state governments.

Amma's visit to Los Angeles this November

Amma’s LA programs were held in Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood. It was a serene and peaceful program with hundreds filling the huge hall. At the start of the first program, Rick Nahmias, Founder and Executive Director of Food Forward, a nonprofit in Los Angeles, garlanded Amma.

What is truly remarkable is the strategy, where it is proposed to map out vulnerabilities of women and girls at various levels and from different perspectives, and through research, study, training, and an exchange of best practices, to find the best possible solutions, replicable by others. I am confident that Amrita University will make sure that both the ceiling and the floor for women will be raised.
