The volunteers of Embracing the World in Poland have been transporting hundreds of Indian students and other refugees crossing the Polish border to Warsaw by bus. Braving the harsh winter, they have stayed at the border providing clothing, medicines, shoes, food, blankets, and other essentials, and arranging accommodation for those without shelter.
With a strong following through the Amma Polska Association, Embracing the World has been active in helping refugees of all nationalities fleeing the war in Ukraine, including at the Hungarian and Romanian borders.
“Thousands of people are coming to Poland from Ukraine, escaping war,” said Marcin Kroll, one of the volunteers leading the effort. “We are Amma’s children in Poland. When we saw their plight, we immediately decided to extend all possible help,” working closely with officials in the city of Łódź and its humanitarian aid center.
“It is really inspiring to see the dedication of Amma’s volunteers in Poland, Hungary and Romania in helping all the refugees and students who have crossed over,” said Swami Shubhamritananda, who coordinates Embracing the World’s activities in Europe. Volunteers from Germany, including Sreepriya and Rohit from Munich, have also traveled to the border to serve.
