Everything in the universe is interconnected. The universe is a net held by each of us. When there is movement in one corner of a net held by four people, it reverberates everywhere. Every action we perform—consciously or unconsciously, alone or as a group—reflects in every corner of the universe.

Stepping outside on a crisp autumn night to gaze at the brilliant stars, we feel a quiet sense of awe at the vastness of the cosmos. Science tells us that within this profound stillness, everything is actually in a constant state of motion. Long before modern physics, the ancient Vedic scriptures revealed this through the concept of Nada Brahman—the understanding that the entire universe is made of vibration. They teach that all of creation first emanated from the deep, unmoving silence of pure consciousness as a single, primordial vibration. From those swirling galaxies above to the microscopic cells in our own bodies, everything is an echo of that original dynamic energy.
While our fundamental nature is this expansive, universal energy—and our physical form is literally woven from the dust of ancient stars—our daily experience is grounded here on Earth. As we interact with our environment, our attention easily gets caught up in the external world, flowing outward through the senses as we chase after fleeting moments of happiness. That outward pull can cause our energy to drift downward into the gravity of material attachment, making our sensitive cellular rhythms—so finely attuned to every shift in our breathing and awareness—fall out of tune with our innate lightness and bliss.
Rather than losing ourselves in an endless chase for external comfort, we are given the grace to lovingly recall our energy back to the stillness within. As we begin our Integrated Amrita Meditation (IAM®) practice, we make the sacred choice to turn inward, discovering an essential vitality and refuge that the outer world cannot offer.
As Amma teaches, “Meditation is the technique that allows you to shut the doors and windows of the senses, so that you can look within and see your True Self.” By consciously redirecting our attention away from external distractions, a profound shift begins. Through a gentle integration of movement, breath, the subtle resonance of sound, and focused awareness, IAM catches that outward drift, gathers up our energy, and peacefully guides it inward, opening us to a flow of inner radiance. As our brainwaves slow and our breath deepens, our cellular network is brought back into a state of resonance.
Through regular practice, this vital life force—known in the yogic tradition as Kundalini—is awakened, brought into beautiful equilibrium, and effortlessly guided upward, returning to its most natural, luminous state. As it rises, we step away from depletion and tap directly into an inner reservoir of strength, aligning ourselves with our dharma—the path of living in harmony with our highest, truest nature.
Understanding the science of vibration gives our daily practice a beautiful new context: we are actively tuning our inner instrument. Each time we commit to our IAM practice, we lift our frequency, allowing that elevated, peaceful energy to ripple out and harmonize our surroundings. As Amma teaches, "Everything in the universe is interconnected. The universe is a net held by each of us. When there is movement in one corner of a net held by four people, it reverberates everywhere. Every action we perform—consciously or unconsciously, alone or as a group—reflects in every corner of the universe."
By gently tending to this inner instrument, we become living vessels for that harmony—effortlessly lifting the vibration of our shared world simply by coming home to who we truly are.
