Amidst one of the world's most impactful humanitarian missions, Amma's vision and leadership have also given rise to one of India's premier institutions of higher education: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (Amrita University). Under her guidance, Amrita has grown exponentially and is now ranked as the topmost private university in India, distinguished not only for its rigorous academics but also for its deep commitment to applied research that addresses real-world societal needs.
At the heart of this mission is a strong focus on sustainability research, led by Dr. Maneesha Ramesh, Provost and UNESCO Chair on Experiential Learning for Sustainable Innovation and Development. Her team is spearheading one of Amrita's most ambitious global initiatives: the International Conference on Sustainable & Resilient Futures (ICSRF 2025), themed "Experiential Learning, Inclusiveness & Sustainable Innovations."
Hosted by the UNESCO Chair on Experiential Learning and the School for Sustainable Futures, the conference runs August 29 to September 1, 2025, at the Amritapuri campus in Kerala, India. It aims to bridge the critical gaps between scientific research, policy frameworks, and on-the-ground implementation, convening global thought leaders, policy makers, researchers, and grassroots innovators to co-create scalable, transformative solutions for a resilient and sustainable future.
